Springfenisco Healthlink is an established GP Practice, which is committed to preserve and enhance its excellent reputation for being caring.
Our mission is to provide quality medical services in a friendly environment.

We undertake to:
  • Treat you with respect and courtesy
  • Provide you with advice and treatment as appropriate
  • Help you make decisions about your health by treating you with respect
  • Discuss available treatments and refer you on to other experts where necessary
  • Act as your advocate and guide through health care services
  • Maintain confidentiality in what we discuss and the records we keep on your behalf
  • Keep up to date with developments in health care by continuing to learn
In return we ask you to:
  • Keep your appointment and/or let us know as soon as possible if you can’t attend
  • Only use urgent out-of-hours services for urgent conditions which can’t wait until the next day or over the weekend
  • Be respectful to our staff. They try to do their best for you.
  • Let us know if you have any suggestions or cause for complaint as soon as possible
  • Let us know when we have done well

CQC – The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England
Following a visit from the CQC in November 2016, the Practice has received an official rating of GOOD.

Rights & Responsibilities

As a patient you have the right to:
  • Be registered with a named Doctor
  • Change Doctor if desired (but please remember that you may have to see any of the Doctors if your need is urgent)
  • Receive emergency care - this may be by being directed to emergency services
  • Receive appropriate drugs and medicines
  • Be referred for specialist or second opinion if they and GP agrees
  • See your medical records or a copy, subject to certain laws
  • Know that by law, everyone working for the NHS must keep the contents of your medical records private.
With these rights come responsibilities for the public. This means being:
  • Courteous to staff at all times
  • As prompt as possible for all appointments
  • Responsible for cancelling appointments in adequate time​

Chaperones

We understand that patients may wish to have a friend or family member present for a consultation, examination or procedure.

There are also times where we require a formal chaperone to be present, i.e. a trained member of staff in accordance to our NHS chaperones policy, for example, during intimate examinations and certain consultations. The chaperone is present for the clinician but also for your reassurance.

Other information

Private Surgery
Aftercare for patients who have self-funded bariatric surgery is not routinely commissioned by Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB within the NHS locally and is not available from the practice. Post-operative support requires specialist input that may be available from the provider that undertook your surgery or via an alternative self-funded route. Specialist NHS services provide this aftercare for patients who have undergone their bariatric surgery within the NHS.

If you had your bariatric surgery abroad:
Government advice, NHS advice and some patient support groups’ advice on accessing treatment abroad, all advise that patients must be clear about how aftercare will be coordinated and provided after their surgery, and that patients may be responsible for costs of the aftercare and of possible return trips associated with aftercare. Patients who have paid for bariatric surgery abroad have a responsibility to review and plan for all points in the recommended Treatment Abroad checklist (https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-abroad/going-abroad-for-treatment/treatment-abroad-checklist/) and can choose to buy a standalone package of post-operative care through a UK independent sector provider, or other non-UK provider. It is important to understand how medical treatment abroad works and what risks are involved. If you do not follow correct procedures, you may have to pay the full costs of your treatment. Please be reassured that NHS emergency services are available should any emergency treatment be required as a result of any issues arising from bariatric surgery.

Pregnancy and flying
There is no statutory requirement for GPs to complete airline forms for patients. If necessary, the midwifery or Obstetrics team would be better placed to complete the form.

Fear of Flying
We are occasionally asked by patients to prescribe medication for fear of flying. 
We regret that henceforth we are not able to facilitate these requests on the grounds of patient safety.

Private Shared Care
We are unable to enter shared care agreements with private providers and advise that this is factored into your decision to access private care. Medications and tests requested through the private sector should be prescribed and organised by the private specialist.
